Clash Card Showcase

Article by Dagan

Hey Clashers! It’s Dagan back again to follow up on the previous Contender article. This time we are going over some of the strongest Clash cards of each color, and why you should consider putting them in your deck!

Let’s start by asking the age old question “Would you rather fight 1 horse sized duck or 100 duck sized horses?” with this clash card in White: Clarity, Foreseeing Fate.

However this is Alpha Clash, so instead of those options you are faced with going tall using superhuman Alphas or going wide with a bus load of mysterious small children! I don’t know about you but both of those options sound pretty scary to me! Maybe you prefer piloting a deck that plays the long game, overwhelming opponents by having raw card advantage (total cards in hand) by the end of the game. Clarity can fill that role, offering card selection and draw! The longer your opponent leaves her alive, the more options you’ll have to win!

What about going wide with Clarity? Rogues like Haven, The Resourceful Helper are key in making that strategy work, providing small attackers and additional card draw to find even more!

When Clarity, Foreseeing Fate enters play, all your rogues get +2 attack! School’s out for summer and the Haven’s are here to play!

In Blue we have the Alpha: Apex, Vortex Slinger

One of the strongest clash cards in blue, Apex, Vortex Slinger can completely change how your opponent has to think about combat! When you play Apex, you make the rules, and you choose what attacks you. If your opponent only plays one big “horse sized duck”- I mean clash card, you can effectively lock it down while you progress your own strategy. 6/4 stats with flying isn’t anything to scoff at either, as you can target problematic clash cards to attack or swing at your opponent’s life total to finish them off in the late game.

Another powerful blue card is a returning character, Haven, Bountiful Collector. Haven is the perfect supporting card to any blue deck ramping up your total resources to get to cards like Apex, Vortex Slinger in play faster! As an added bonus she can retrieve her broken toys, I mean accessories, from your Oblivion if they get destroyed.

Is that an explosion in the distance? Bringing the noise in Red is: Torque, The Uncontrollable!

Now I know what you may be thinking, why is this little fella the focus of the color? I assure you, he grows. First off he has strong synergy with the red Contender Torque, the Diabolical, drawing you a card from his Trigger: Enter ability.

The key to Torque, The Uncontrollable is self damage, and what better way to do that than bringing the heat with HERE COMES THE BOOM!

While this isn’t a Clash Card, synergy requires context. HERE COMES THE BOOM! is already one of the strongest removal cards in the game, potentially clearing a whole board of threats. Turns out there aren’t that many cards that have more than 5 defense! When you pair these two red cards together you get something nasty. Almost everything else may die, but Torque only gets more powerful with a +5/5 boost to his stats and earning the keyword Breakthrough for your trouble. With the board clear and an angry Alpha it’s time to get your punches in!

Next up is a staple in almost any green deck: Khagan, the Dragon!

Khagan, The Dragon is everything you could want in a card! Removal? A big flying body? He’s got it all, what more is there to say? Nobody is safe from Khagan. While the downside of requiring 4 of your resources being green can be steep sometimes, he is well worth the cost.

In the 5 cost slot as an honorable mention we have Sonoro, The Awakened Breaker.

Sonoro can be a great top end to your green decks, making sure to draw cards every time he attacks! If he isn’t defeated quickly his card draw can get out of hand.

Last but definitely not least in black we have the big bad himself: Alpha Aster, Giver of All!

Your opponent can’t stop him from entering play. He takes no prisoners. Living up to his name, Alpha Aster has the biggest stats in the game with a monstrous 9/9 body! He is unique in that he doesn’t require any specific colors to play, so he can be run in any deck as long as you are able to get to 8 resources in play. There are very few ways to destroy him, but Khagan is the cleanest answer.

Those are just a few of the big bads available in Alpha Clash, but there are many more Clash cards and strategies to explore. I hope this has awakened your curiosity to build a strong list yourself, and I’ll see you on the battlefield!
