Genesis Returns
Genesis Returns, the fourth Alpha Clash TCG set from Rising Empire Studios, releases worldwide November 8th. This amazing set features 7x new Contenders, new keyword abilities, new chase cards, new characters, new foiling and uv texture, and much more!
Our new Contenders enter the Gambit, adding unique play styles, dynamic elements of gameplay and varied deck building.
Fan-favorite artist, Caio Cacau, is back again to bring our Iconic Art and Iconic Rare cards to life. However, this time they are alternate-arts of the Clash Buffs within the set.
This set features two excellent Legendary cards to find, featuring Khagan and Genesis. Wait until you see these two in person!
We’ve introduced a new set of chase cards to find, Gold Foils! You’ll find 5x within Genesis Returns, featuring the ‘I Am’ cards. These alternate foil and texture cards are not only beautiful to look at, they’re hard to find. Finding any Gold Foil is harder than finding a Legendary, but not as hard as finding an Alpha Rare. However, finding a specific Gold Foil is harder to find than the Alpha Rare!
Speaking of Alpha Rare…this infamous card is back and it’s amazing! Good luck and happy hunting…
You’ve seen some of the amazing cards, now let’s get to some of the set notes!
We had two Contenders receive erratas in the recent past. These cards got a reprint and some new artwork, and are found within this set.
We get a few new Keyword abilities in this set: Magnitude, Fortitude, Bound, and Recover.
Magnitude X: You have Magnitude X, where X is equal to the number of cards in your Oblivion. Magnitude is a new ability mainly used by our new black contender Kilimanjaro, Power Erupting. The keyword Magnitude will always be followed by a number, that number is how many cards minimum you will need in your Oblivion to get that reward. If you have at least the number required, you receive the benefit. You do not need to have the exact number listed to receive the Magnitude benefit. Let’s use the previously mentioned Contender for our example.
Looking at the three Magnitude abilities on this Contender, the numbers are 10, 15, and 20. The important thing to note is that the number stated is the minimum number of cards required in Oblivion, which means if you have 20 or more cards in your Oblivion you will get the draw, health gain, AND the buff from the Contender’s ability!
Fortitude: This card’s attack and defense can’t be reduced by effects your opponents control.
This will allow you to protect yourself from the debuffing powers of Shadowlight and other effects and abilities! Essentially, Fortitude is a new keyword that gives your cards protection from stat reducing effects your opponent may throw at you!
Bound: Only one copy of this uniquely named card can be in your Resource Zone.
Deck building is an important aspect to the game and we know each slot is crucial. So, we wanted to add more dual colored cards to the game without strictly hurting mono colored decks. Thus, Bound was created. Bound is similar to the keyword Exclusive, but for your Resource Zone. For example, having one Haven, Quick Witted means you can’t have another copy in your Resource Zone. You can, however, have other uniquely named Bound cards your Resource Zone.
Recover X: Whenever this Clash Card deals clash damage, your contender gains X health.
In the past sets, there have plenty of ways to deal damage but not many to heal damage. Recover can now give your Clash cards the ability to heal your Contender.
Alpha Aster was our first and only card with Observant, dating all the way back to Set 1, The Awakening. Now, he has company.
Observant: This Clash Card cannot attack the turn it enters play.
Abilities vs Effects
We now have cards that focus on abilities such as Genesis, the Inevitable and Pestilence, Toxic Presence.
To put it simply, abilities are our keywords (Exclusive, Flight, Breakthrough, etc), while an effect is everything else in the text box of the card. So cards that either gain or remove abilities will only get rid of those keywords and not the rest of the effects on the card.
Playing Cards from your Resource Zone
With the return of Genesis he brings a very unique mechanic to Alpha Clash!
Playing cards out of your Resource Zone is a new mechanic to the game that Genesis will utilize. When playing cards out of your Resource Zone, they will go into Standby as if you played it from hand and can be responded to with appropriately timed counters.
Flip your cards, not the table…
Shadowlight leverages his contrasting abilities of light and shadow. What better way to reflect this in the game but to have his Contender card flip between the two.
Some quick notes about flipping cards in Alpha Clash:
You can only flip cards that have a backside to flip into (no flipping to the card back!)
When flipping a card, if it’s engaged prior to the flip, it stays engaged. Since flipping a card doesn’t make it leave the board it stays in whatever state it was in before the flip.
We can’t wait for players around the world to open and play with this amazing set. Happy Clashing!
