Recapping Clashground: Taguig

Clashground: Taguig took place at Card Pro Hobbies & Collectibles in the Philippines recently. The new meta was very diverse, seeing 7 different Contenders represented in the field.

The first major Asian event after the release of Unrivaled, several players brought new builds and new Contenders.

After Swiss play, a top-8 single elimination bracket determined our event champion. Within the top-8 we saw 5 different Contenders represented.

After winning Clashground: Manila earlier this season, Melvin Sta. Maria found himself in the No. 2 seed with his familiar Torque deck after falling to Levi Sumacbay (2-1) in Swiss play.

The big question on the weekend in Taguig was, “Will Torque continue to rule the Asian meta?”

In order for Torque to remain on top, he’d likely need to go through tough Machina and Warcry builds, each top finishing Contenders in the recent American Clashground: Columbus event.

In the end, Melvin Sta. Maria (aka Melvinism TCG) got his revenge over Sumacbay in the finals and became a back-to-back Clashground event champion! Torque kept the crown in this meta.
