Recapping Clashground: Columbus

Clashground: Columbus took place at Origins Game Fair in Columbus, Ohio recently. The new meta was very diverse, seeing 11 different Contenders represented in the field.

The first major event after the release of Unrivaled, as well as new card erratas and bans, brought several new and never-before-seen builds to the table. The Alpha Clash Discord server and event’s YouTube live chat were buzzing all weekend about “the buffalo” and a Machina deck running zero red cards.

After Swiss play, a top-16 single elimination bracket on day 2 determined our event champion. Within the top-16 we saw an astounding 9 different Contenders represented!

Familiar foes, Michael Halmilton and Jacob Snodgrass, would meet once again in a Clashground semifinals after meeting at Clashground: Las Vegas as well, pitting the prior mentioned green-blue Machina deck against “the buffalo”. This is the match everyone was seemingly waiting for. In the end Michael would take the match, moving on to face his Wolfpack teammate Ian Shaffer in a Machina mirror match finals. Shaffer advanced by taking down the top-seeded Torque deck by David McCartney.

Hamilton would go on to win the event, taking home the top prize and Clashground: Columbus Champion honors.

Hear from the champion on his weekend and unique Machina build!
